Bell & Ross BR 03-92 White Bronze

Beauty of the abyss: Bell & Ross BR 03-92 White Bronze

Evoking the glorious hours of the first underwater explorations with a modern flair, the BR 03-92 White Bronze signifies a new chapter in Bell & Ross’ nautical odyssey.

When it comes to underwater matters, Bell & Ross has had in-depth expertise since 1997, when the luxury watchmaker released its first diver’s watch, the Hydromax, with which the brand achieved a world record for water resistance — a depth of 11 100 metres! A decade later, the company’s second diver’s watch emerged; the BR 02 was ready to submerge into the depths of the deep blue. Then, in 2017, Bell & Ross released the BR 03-92, the latest model of which is the timepiece seen here, the BR 03-92 White Bronze. Only 999 pieces will be made.

A certified diver’s watch, the White Bronze variant’s square-shaped case is crafted from an alloy composed of 92 per cent copper and eight per cent tin. According to the Parisian company, the tone is visually quite close to the classic fittings of old sailboats and yachts while overlapping with the types of bronze used by contemporary designers and architects.

Like its stablemates, the White Bronze was designed as a professional quality tool for divers. To meet their expectations, it complies with international standard ISO-6425. This means it is designed to withstand water at depths of at least 100 metres and is equipped with a secured measuring system.

In addition, underwater, the indices must still be visible at a distance of 25 cm in the dark. A diver’s watch must also be magnetic-resistant, shock-resistant and, of course, resistant to salt water. The BR 03-92 White Bronze complies with all these demanding specifications — the case is water resistant to 300 metres while the dial is legible thanks to Super-LumiNova inserts. Bell & Ross’ BR-CAL.302 mechanical self-winding movement beats at 28 800 vph.
