Mervyn Gers Ceramics is well-known for its one-of-a-kind ceramic pieces and handmade dinnerware. Now, the Cape Town-based ceramic studio has teamed up with international artist Richard Scott to create a special bespoke collection.
Richard has established himself as an artist both locally and internationally. He uses distinctive black lines in his work, which translates beautifully onto ceramics. His work has a striking simplicity and includes the female figure, cats, cars and lighthouses as subject matter. Mervyn gave Richard full access to the ceramic studio, and together they created a very unique range that’s sure to spark conversation.
The range will begin with a set of four cappuccino cups with saucers and will be followed by a set of four espresso cups with saucers, a milk jug and a sugar bowl. All cups will be limited edition, and the collection is “fabulous, fun and quirky”. In time, the range will be expanded to include small and large dinner plates, fruit platters and some other bespoke items. The products will be beautifully packed in hand-painted boxes.
