Launched by City Sightseeing Cape Town during Tourism Month, this new Inner City and Bo-Kaap experience is for anyone who wants to get beyond the usual mountain views, pretty beaches and postcard-perfect stops and dig a little deeper into the city’s stories, streets and people.
The experience starts on board, with a one-hour guided journey through the heart of Cape Town. Expect Greenmarket Square, the Company’s Garden, the Castle of Good Hope, City Hall, District Six Museum and plenty of stories along the way, brought to life by a live English-speaking guide. It’s less tick-box sightseeing, more discovering the layers that make the city what it is.
Then comes the good part: getting out and exploring on foot.
The tour heads into the Bo-Kaap for a 30-minute guided walk through one of Cape Town’s most recognisable neighbourhoods, offering a closer look at its history, culture and character. It’s a chance to slow down, look beyond the colourful facades and connect with the people and stories that have shaped this part of the city.
And because sometimes the best way to rediscover your own city is to let someone else show you around, Urban Xplorer is an easy addition to a Cape Town day out. It runs at 10am and 12pm, starting and ending at the City Sightseeing office at 81 Long Street.
Tickets are R95 for adults and R45 for juniors, while guests who book the 1-Day Premium Combo with City Sightseeing Cape Town get Urban Xplorer included.
