Bafunny Bafunny South Africa’s Festival of Comedy
South Africa’s Festival of Comedy has already kicked off in Pretoria, but Cape Town gets its turn on 25 and 26 September when the national comedy tour arrives at GrandWest.
The festival, also known as Bafunny Bafunny, brings together some of the country’s biggest and newest comedy talent, with Trevor Noah leading the team as captain alongside vice-captain Eugene Khoza and coach Ntosh Madlingozi. The lineup also features comedians including Thabiso Mhlongo, Lindy Johnson, Panch Gasela, Mbali Gudazi and Learnmore Jonasi.
After starting in Pretoria on 4 and 5 September and making its way to Durban on 19 September, the Cape Town dates are the final stop of the tour. The Grand Arena at GrandWest will host two nights of stand-up, with doors opening at 6pm and the show beginning at 7pm.
Whether you have followed the tour from the beginning or are only hearing about it now, the Cape Town shows are your chance to catch South Africa’s “National Team of Comedy” on home soil. With a strong mix of established names and rising talent, it promises a big night of laughs and one of the more exciting comedy lineups to come through Cape Town this year.
