This October, Durbanville Wine Valley is celebrating in true Cape style: with a Pinotage poured by the magnum.
The newly released Durbanville Pinotage 2024 is no ordinary wine. It’s a once-off collaboration by 11 winemaking teams from across the valley, crafted to honour not one, but three milestones: 200 years of Durbanville, 100 years of Pinotage (South Africa’s very own cultivar), and 100 years of Afrikaans as an official language.
And what better way to toast a century than with a wine that’s both collectible and generous? Only 1 170 magnums have been bottled – big enough to share at your next long-table dinner, yet rare enough to be a true cellar treasure.

The wine itself? Expect plush notes of blackcurrant, cherry and prune, lifted with a whisper of winter spice. Elegant tannins and lively acidity bring freshness, while the cool Durbanville climate ensures a Pinotage that’s refined, vibrant and built to age gracefully.
Perfect pairings? Think slow-roasted lamb, sticky pork ribs off the braai, or a rich aubergine moussaka for the plant-based foodies. In short: the kind of meals that beg for another pour.
Beyond the wine, the label tells a story of land and heritage – Delft-blue illustrations of Durbanville’s church, Cape Dutch homes, and Table Mountain, ringed with pumpkins, wheat and grapes. It’s as much art as it is wine.
Available exclusively via the Durbanville Wine Valley website and select tasting rooms, each magnum comes packaged in Delft-blue and finished with gold leaf – a keepsake for collectors at R1 200.
So whether you’re raising a glass to Pinotage, to Durbanville, or simply to the joy of a wine that tastes like a celebration, this release is made for moments worth remembering.
