Fall 2023 captures Scotch & Soda’s free-thinking and endless optimism to dream, wonder and escape. The collection draws on the wonders of Earth – because good planets are hard to find. Unique prints and graphics, which celebrate the joy and appreciation of nature and exploring the great outdoors, are key throughout. Capsule collections connecting us to Earth launch this season. One to celebrate the brand’s ongoing partnership with Trees for All, a treeplanting foundation with the mission to restore forests around the world, together with whom Scotch & Soda has planted around 82,000 trees to date, and an Amsterdam Proof capsule of unisex rainwear, inspired by the functionality needed to face the elements of the brand’s home city, Amsterdam.
Uniting unique feel-good designs with everyday layers, the collection delivers a modern wardrobe that spans across seasons. Combining the expected with the unexpected, the brand’s signature styles are juxtaposed with joyful details and reworked into new modern looks that celebrate the new brand identity. Small hidden text embroideries, ikat print tapes and conversational labels illustrate the brand’s love of self-expression and details.
An optimistic mood flows through light-hearted graphics and quotes printed on T-shirts and sweatshirts, like ‘the free spirit of Amsterdam’, the embodiment of the brand’s ethos. ‘Down to Earth’ and ‘have a nice day’ are seen on a grey sweatshirt – a nod to gezelligheid, a Dutch term for cosiness, togetherness and fun.
Through a celebration of colour, washed-out brights, colour pops and new tie-dyes, the positivity continues. An orange and red tie-dye T-shirt channels an end-of-summer mood, and a bright yellow wool and (post-consumer) recycled cashmere blend sweater, bring surges of colour to any outfit.
A capsule collection celebrating Trees for All capsule collection, playful graphics are printed across T-shirts and a sweatsuit, both made with Pyratex® fabric: an organic cotton and nettle blend (T-shirts) and organic cotton and fibres from banana agricultural waste (sweatsuit).
Unique prints and graphics rooted on Earth spread across the collection, inspired by outdoor exploration. A bold floral print on chino shorts and a matching shirt, or an ikat print appearing on a knitted sweater, encapsulate the idea of discovery. Besides prints, loungewear also takes on an outdoor mood: a dusty red-toned stretch corduroy hoodie and shorts are sporty and comfortable.
Modern authentic denim pieces are reworked with visual washes, artworks and repair details. A versatile classic, the Vert – a straight-fit made from organic cotton – makes a statement with an earth-inspired tie-dye at the hems. Cosmic whites are also at the core, including a new tapered denim chino fit, the Sailor. Statement customised details and a worn-in authentic wash, as seen on the super loose-fit Strand – made from recycled cotton – are the brand’s take on denim through the solar system.
New-season suiting relaxes in reworked silhouettes: a workwear jacket with matching straight-fit trousers is a highlight day-to-evening look. Shirting is made for all year round: a lightweight flannel checked shirt reworked from the brand’s archive, or shirts in colourful stripes and checks, add surprise worn with the sleeves rolled up under blazers or sweatshirts.
The brand celebrates outerwear that spans the season. The bomber jacket is reinterpreted, including a modern black version, made from a wool and TENCEL™ Lyocell blend, and a varsity wool and leather bomber with Earth-inspired patches. A washed colour-block hooded jacket reflects the playful and outdoor-inspired mood of the collection. Outdoor-function meets outdoor-future in the season’s unisex rainwear, with the Amsterdam Proof capsule collection. Great for layering, a poncho and an oversized jacket with matching trousers – all waterproof – are rich in utility details and specially-designed graphics.
Fall 2023 offers an authentic and expressive take on everyday wear, grounded in optimism and a celebration of our space on Earth, through feel-good details.
