Birkenstock 1774 unveils Romanticismo, a poetic reinterpretation of its most recognisable silhouettes, inspired by the emotional depth and expressive beauty of 19th-century Italian Romanticism. The collection translates this artistic movement into contemporary form through refined materials, elevated detailing and a softened design language that reconsiders familiarity with intention.
At the heart of the collection lies a trio of iconic styles, the Milano, the Boston and the Arizona. Each is crafted from premium materials sourced in Italy and assembled in Germany, reflecting a balance of precision, heritage and modern craft. A restrained palette of Mustard Brown and Black introduces quiet depth, while subtle refinements define the collection’s signature language, including delicate leather piping, fully leather-wrapped square buckles and precise, considered stitching along each strap. Anchored by the original Birkenstock footbed, the collection remains grounded in the brand’s enduring values of function, quality and tradition, while expressing a more elevated design perspective.
Marking its 50th anniversary in 2026, the Milano takes centre stage as a tribute to the city of Milan and the spirit that first inspired it. Reintroduced in smooth black leather, it features refined contrast piping and stitching, with its dual front straps and supportive back strap forming a structured yet contemporary silhouette that defines the collection’s tone.
The Boston clog, also celebrating an anniversary year, continues its legacy as part of the brand’s extensive archive of more than 700 silhouettes. Defined by its closed-toe ease and sculptural simplicity, it is reinterpreted in Mustard Brown and Black, with subtle contrast detailing that highlights its architectural lines and understated presence.
Completing the trio, the Arizona two-strap sandal is presented in Mustard Brown with a fully tonal finish, and in Black with precise piping and stitch detailing that sharpen its familiar form. Together, the interpretations bring a renewed sense of clarity and refinement to a house icon.
