An icon, now skeletonised: new TAG Heuer Monaco

TAG Heuer has introduced a trio of new variants to its iconic Monaco Chronograph collection, with each piece sporting an intricately designed skeletonised dial — a first for the Swiss luxury watchmaker’s square-shaped timepiece — finished in one of three bold hues: Original Blue, Racing Red, and Luminous Turquoise.

LIVELY LIVERIES
Celebrating the original Monaco blue dial, the dial of the Original Blue variant (ref. CBL2182.FT6235) is finished in a cool blue hue. Enhancing this model’s sporty yet elegant design, the La Chaux-de-Fonds-based brand has applied a “unique” combination of white and red accents to the skeletonised item. The 3 and 9 o’clock sub-dials’ surrounds have been finished in the former hue, while the seconds and sub-dials’ hands are red.

The Racing Red derivative’s (ref. CBL2183.FT6236) red finishes pay tribute to its racing heritage. The vivid hue has been subtly applied to the otherwise grey and black dial. Contrasting with the latter colours, red can be found on the seconds and sub-dials’ hands and indices.

The Luminous Turquoise model brings an avante-garde look to the skeletonised Monaco, with luminous torquoise touches contrasting with the dial’s dark hue. It’s the definition of cool, TAG Heuer says. Adding a sporty touch, the seconds hand and sub-dials’ hands are finished in red.

ICONIC CASE
The iconic Monaco case of these three pieces measures 39 mm. For the Original Blue and Racing Red models, the square-shaped item — coupled with blue and black rubber and leather straps, respectively — is crafted from titanium, as is the fixed bezel (grade 2 titanium) and crown (grade 2 titanium). Grade 2 titanium has also been used for the case back, with sapphire crystal displaying the movement. The Luminous Turquoise variant boasts a black, DLC titanium case, replete with sapphire crystal ‘round back. A black leather and rubber strap is also present on this derivative. Water resistance is rated at 100 metres.

DYNAMIC MOVEMENT
All models are driven by TAG Heuer’s renowened Calibre Heuer 02 movement. The automatic chronograph unit beats at a frequency of 4 Hz (28 000 vph) for a generous power reserve of 80 hours.
