Fresh from the Cape Winelands, Babylonstoren’s latest rosé captures the spirit of warmer days, with vibrant fruit, refreshing acidity and a little something extra this October.
As the days grow warmer and outdoor entertaining beckons, Babylonstoren welcomes the season with its 2026 Mourvèdre Rosé, a delicate blush-pink wine that brings the essence of the Cape Winelands to summer tables.
With bright acidity and expressive notes of watermelon, rhubarb and cherry, complemented by hints of candy floss and strawberry yoghurt, the latest vintage is made for leisurely lunches, garden gatherings and sun-drenched afternoons.
The wine will also return as the official rosé of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2027, marking its seventh consecutive year at the celebrated London event.
A vintage shaped by the land
The 2026 growing season was characterised by dry conditions, resulting in smaller berries and a natural concentration of flavour. In the cellar, meticulous handling helped preserve the wine’s signature Provençal-inspired elegance, with the free-run juice separated from the press fractions to carefully control colour extraction.
“This vintage naturally showed deeper colour due to the dry conditions, but we’ve worked meticulously to retain that delicate, pale pink,” says cellar master Klaas Stoffberg.
Despite its deeper natural colour, the result is a beautifully balanced rosé, with a generous palate lifted by refreshing acidity. Made from the robust Mourvèdre grape, which is handled much like a white wine in the cellar, it offers surprising versatility at the table. Think rare roast venison for a savoury pairing or fresh strawberries with Chantilly cream for something sweet.

From the farm to the glass
At Babylonstoren, the story of a wine extends well beyond the vineyard. The working farm’s celebrated garden, with its fruit orchards, vegetable beds and botanical collections, reflects a deep connection to the land and the rhythm of the seasons.
That same appreciation for provenance informs the winemaking, with each vintage shaped by the conditions of the year. The 2026 Mourvèdre Rosé is a fresh expression of this relationship, bringing the character of the farm to every glass.
A little extra blush this October
There is even more reason to raise a glass this month. From 1 to 31 October 2026, Babylonstoren is offering an extra bottle of Mourvèdre Rosé for every three purchased. The promotion applies to 750 ml bottles and cases, while stocks last. October Blush: buy three, get one free
