Virgin Active South Africa has officially unveiled its first Collection Country Club at the site of its former Point club, introducing a bold new category to the local wellness scene. Think less “gym”, more lifestyle destination. A social wellness club where training, recovery, nutrition, co working and connection live under one beautifully designed roof.
With an investment of more than R100 million, the 5,500m² space in the heart of Green Point redefines what modern wellbeing looks like in Cape Town.
Not just a workout. A whole ecosystem.
Described as a “second space” by Global CEO Dean Kowarski, the Collection Country Club is designed to sit somewhere between home and office. A place to train hard, switch off, plug in, meet friends, take meetings, recover properly and actually enjoy the process.
Sir Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin Group, calls it a natural evolution for the brand in South Africa, a country that has played a major role in Virgin Active’s story for over two decades. The new Green Point club, he says, reflects how wellness today is about living well, not just working out.
And it shows.

What’s inside?
This is a 360 degree wellness playground.
A fully reimagined gym floor and Lift Club concept anchor the performance offering, alongside five boutique style studios for Reformer Pilates, hot yoga, boxing, high intensity training, performance cycling and even meditative sound bath sessions.
Swimmers get access to a 25 metre training pool, now home to the Virgin Active Chad Le Clos Swim Academy, launched in partnership with Olympic gold medallist Chad Le Clos. The academy rolls out structured coaching for everyone from beginners to competitive athletes, bringing elite technique to everyday members.
Recovery is equally elevated. Expect hot and cold contrast therapy including sauna, steam room, spa pool and cold plunge, plus Hydromassage beds, Cryolounge therapy, compression boots and Hyperice tools. There is also an infra red and red light longevity cabin for those leaning into next level preventative health.
Outdoor energy is just as strong. Padel, pickleball and tennis courts sit alongside an outdoor pool and a dedicated HYROX training zone, reflecting the brand’s new global training partnership.
Then there’s the lifestyle layer. On site biokineticists, physiotherapists, sports scientists, dieticians and body composition scanners bring medical grade support into the everyday wellness journey. The NÜ Health Food Café fuels it all, while co working lounges, boardrooms and indoor and outdoor social spaces turn the club into a true community hub.
Wellness, redefined
Virgin Active has operated in South Africa for more than 30 years, traditionally focused on fitness and performance. The Collection Country Club signals a deeper shift. This is preventative wellness in action. Proactive rather than reactive. Sustainable rather than extreme.
It also lands at the right moment for Cape Town, a city consistently recognised as one of the best destinations in the world and known for its outdoor, movement driven culture. After closing the original Point club in 2025 to fully reimagine the space, Virgin Active returns to the Atlantic Seaboard with what it calls its clearest expression yet of social wellness.
The Point Collection Country Club is not just a new club. It is a blueprint. Part of a broader national development strategy, with more upgrades and new concepts planned across South Africa in 2026.
Cape Town has its new wellness address. And it is designed for real life.
