Scotch & Soda’s Summer 2023 collection, Park in Bloom, is inspired by Amsterdam’s iconic Vondelpark, evolving the story first introduced for Spring 2023. From everyday looks to high summer silhouettes, the collection celebrates park life, seasonal fruits and the role of bees in nature. Radiating positivity, it unites fun florals and citrus prints, workwear details, tennis stripes and crochet with pops of colour and neutrals, delivering a modern summer wardrobe.
Highlighting the brand’s free-spirited attitude and love for self-expression, Scotch & Soda’s specially designed graphics, artworks and embroideries flow through the collection. Unique florals and fruit designs pan out across new-season styles, from an all-over wildflower print on high-rise belted shorts to summer fruits printed on a linen short-sleeved playsuit, while embroidered citrus fruit, bees and yin yang symbols adorn a shirt mini dress – a smart-casual summer look. Positivity radiates through feel good graphics and quotes – such as “visit your local park”, “go pollinate” and “bee free” as seen on a side split hoodie, relaxed-fit sweatshirt and T-shirt, respectively, as well as a colourful Vondelpark tennis club graphic printed on a loose-fit sweatshirt.
Optimism continues through the joy of colour: slim-fit Lowry trousers with matching blazer in bright parakeet – inspired by the Vondelpark’s fauna – is the ultimate garden party look, together with the structured shoulder midi dress, made in orchid pink with cut-out detailing. Inspired by the bee’s eye view from above, a flowy maxi dress is designed with a multi tie-dye design, creating a blurry abstract flower field. A vegetable-dyed Cotton in Conversion T-shirt, in blush peach, is an everyday essential. Tennis stripes are also key this season, a nod to the park’s tennis players. A relaxed-fit half-zip sweatshirt – worn with matching sweat shorts – are a new take on tennis club prep. Bursts of colour are balanced with modern neutrals: think a short jumpsuit with utility details in olive green, inspired by the gardener’s uniform.
Channelling the season’s free-spirited mood, Scotch & Soda’s high summer looks and swimwear pieces spread across the collection, celebrating the final blooms and fruits, together with fun embroideries and crochet. Perfect for day and night, a bow pleated mini dress in a rainbow ombre print moves with every step, while a knitted bra top is a versatile layer, available in multiple colours. A reversible swimsuit reveals an abstract speckle print on one side and salmon orange on the other – combining the Scotch & the Soda, the expected and the unexpected.
The brand’s Amsterdams Blauw premium denim range is reworked to reflect the lightness of summer, with lightweight fabrics and signature fits in white, light and garment-dyed washes. Together with its matching trucker jacket, the Sky – a straight jean – makes a statement with its tie-dye artwork and bust knees, while the Ripple – a high-rise tailored straight leg – comes in a bright white wash, featuring repair details and all-over patches. The super-loose Fling is updated in a fresh light wash with a twist front closure. Denim skirts and shorts also return for the sunny season, like boyfriend shorts designed with floral embroideries, highlighting the brand’s signature love for details.
Eternal Blauw comes back as a retail-exclusive, limited-edition recycled denim capsule. All pieces are made from an exclusive fabric in combination with either 20% recycled fibres from unused Amsterdams Blauw denim or 30% post-consumer recycled cotton. The latter forms a part of the brand’s commitment to the Denim Deal – an Amsterdam-based international collaboration focused on making post-consumer recycling of textiles the new standard in the industry. Highlights include the Spirit unifit jeans, shorts and jacket patched with leftover premium fabrics, and made from 80% organic cotton and 20% recycled jeans leftover from previous Scotch & Soda collections. In addition to classic denim pieces, Eternal Blauw also includes knitwear made from recycled jeans.
“Save the Bees”, a collection highlight, underlines the importance of bees for our ecosystems. Unique, water-based artworks, featuring honeycombs, wildflowers, and the message “Plant a bee garden” are seen on an undyed organic cotton hoodie, T-shirt and matching sweat shorts.
This season’s Born to Love styles are inspired by 1967’s Summer of Love, a celebration of unity, music and free spirits. With love as the main message, the collection includes a variety of unifit festival-inspired looks and loungewear with specially-designed artworks and psychedelic prints – a modern nod to Bob Schnepf’s iconic posters – while a multi-coloured knitted dress is inspired by Birgitta Bjerke’s brightly coloured crochets.
