The Story of the Panther

Cartier has launched a new collection of scarves, wraps and headbands – and the emblematic Panther takes centre stage.

Cartier has revealed its latest collection of scarves and other accessories, in which the panther features in all its iconic glory. The design element is a nod to the Maison’s silk squares, launched in 1979 and inaugurated a series of paintings inspired by Cartier’s creative spaces today.

The collection, which comprises scarves, wraps and headbands, reflects the Maison’s artisan tradition. Made from silk, the accessories are manufactured in the Italian Lake District or in Lyon. Each part of the process – from the engraving to the printing – takes place layer by layer, from the darkest to the lightest colour and from the largest to the smallest motif.

The Panther was the inspiration for the three prints that feature in the new collection. Each of the prints – Place Vendôme, Japanese cherry blossoms, and a jungle full of life – sees the magnetic and powerful feline as its heroine. Each of these themes pays tribute to the world of Cartier, signifying the Maison’s birth on Rue de la Paix, its distant cultural influences, and the Maison’s primary stylistic trend for which it is well-known and loved.
