Revel In Painting This Winter at Glen Carlou

The Gallery @ Glen Carlou, houses a selection of contemporary art by both emerging and established South African artists.  Exhibitions change every four to six weeks and consistently offer works across a diverse range of mediums for purchase.  Whether you are in the mood for creative inspiration, or searching for something to brighten your home, this gallery will not disappoint.

This winter JP Meyer has curated a spectacular group exhibition titled PAINT, wherein each of the artists is presenting two paintings alongside a quote that describes what painting means to them individually, highlighting the importance and relevance of the tradition of painting in our lives today.  This exhibition also offers the viewer a glimpse into the diversity of styles, perspectives, subjects, and mediums that contemporary painting has to offer. Participating artists for this exhibit include, amongst others, Andrew Putter, Good Good Boy, Muofhe Manavhela, Mars aka Kafe, Nicolas Hales and Oliver Scarlin.

Another exhibition on show at the gallery is SHAMAN curated by Elfriede Dreyer.  The exhibition offers insight into the role of the artist as a Shaman – having always been tied to vision and a position of being between two worlds (that of the visible and the invisible). Shaman showcases works by established artists such as Diane Victor, Wilma Cruise, Palesa Motsomi, Daniel Mosako and many more, while also including works by students at the Institute of Contemporary Art Practice (CAP).

Join us for a private, guided tour with an optional glass of wine led by our gallery curator.

Both exhibitions are open until 7 August, for information on these exhibits get in touch via gallery@glencarlou.co.za
