Seven Seas Grandeur

A Grandeur Collaboration: Regent Seven Seas Cruises has partnered with jewellery Maison Fabergé to create a unique treasure

In a very special collaboration, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, the world’s leading luxury ocean cruise line, has joined forces with Fabergé, the world-famous jewellery Maison to release a rare, first-of-its-kind treasure for the line’s new ship, Seven Seas Grandeur. The ship will set sail in November this year, and the bespoke design will be the first Fabergé Egg Objet to reside permanently at sea.

THE ART

The Fabergé x Regent Seven Seas Egg Objet is titled Journey in Jewels. It will form part of a multi-million dollar art collection, which will debut onboard the Seven Seas Grandeur. The piece will not be available for sale and will only be displayed for guests on the highly anticipated new ship.

Fabergé Egg Objet

The Journey in Jewels Egg Objet takes inspiration from the iconic Fabergé Winter egg of 1913 to nod to the importance of heritage in both the Regent Seven Seas Cruises and Fabergé brands. The piece also represents the natural elements of the sea and conjures up visions of epic voyages on the water. A three-tiered base features a gently cascading waterfall in ocean greens and subtle turquoise while soothing deep blue waves on the outer shell become lighter before breaking into a sea spray of pearls.

The exterior of the egg features an ombre enamel shell — a milestone moment for the Maison as it is the first time that Fabergé has applied this intricate enamelling technique to an egg. The technique is extremely technical and is made even more challenging on a curved surface.

The outer shell is made up of seven blades to represent the seven seas. Each one will unfurl to reveal a surprise hidden inside, but the details are closely guarded until the ship is christened later this year.

The egg objet will stand at around 18 centimetres tall, and a three-tiered base will hide the movement of the opening mechanism — this marks another first for Fabergé.

THE SHIP

Regent’s newest ship, Seven Seas Grandeur, is inspired by the past while beautifully reimagined for the future. Boasting unrivalled space, exceptional cuisine and transformative experiences, the ship embodies the cruise line’s heritage of perfection. The decision to partner with Fabergé for the central piece of the art collection was easy — the jewellery brand also has a long legacy of perfection and craftsmanship.
