Oris has released a special Edition Big Crown Pointer Date, named for legandary baseball player and humanitarian Hank Aaron. Only 2 297 pieces will be made.
Dedicated to Henry Louis “Hank” Aaron, this special Big Crown Pointer Date sports the same hues found on the baseball Hall-of-Famer’s famous uniform. The colour palette was subtly applied to reflect Hank Aaron’s humble attitude, with blue-outlined red numerals, a red-outlined blue minutes ring, and a blue leather strap, the latter featuring white contrast stitching akin to that of a baseball glove (the special presentation box in which the watch ships includes an interchangeable NATO fabric strap).
Based on the Big Crown Pointer Date timepiece, the multi-piece stainless steel case measures 40 mm in diameter. Paying homage to Hank Aaron, the screw-in stainless steel case back is engraved with a motif of Hank Aaron and his famous cross-handed batting stance. Water resistance is rated at 50 metres.
Inside, the firm’s 754 calibre keeps time. The self-winding movement offers a power reserve of 38 hours.
“To be able to collaborate with the Hank Aaron family and the Chasing the Dream Foundation, and to commemorate Hank Aaron, is a true honour,” said Rolf Studer, Co-CEO of the Hölstein-based brand. “Mr Aaron is an inspiration. He broke down racial barriers, rewrote the record books and devoted his life to the service of others. For Oris, it is a great privilege to be able to support his legacy and the foundation as it continues its mission to bring Change for the Better to the lives of disadvantaged young people.”
