Returning to Johannesburg this September, FNB Art Joburg celebrates its 18th year as Africa’s premier contemporary art fair, uniting top artists, galleries, and collectors while championing the continent’s creative sector.
FNB Art Joburg, Africa’s foremost contemporary art fair, is set to return for its 18th edition, cementing its status as the continent’s longest-running showcase of artistic excellence. From Friday, 5 September to Sunday, 7 September 2025, the Sandton Convention Centre will transform into a vibrant hub of creativity, bringing together the finest galleries, artists, and collectors under one roof.

“FNB’s enduring partnership with Art Joburg underscores our dedication to nurturing African talent and advancing the continent’s creative economy,” says Faye Mfikwe, chief marketing officer at FNB. “Through our Grassroots to Greatness initiative, we’re not just supporting artists we’re opening doors to global platforms, ensuring African voices resonate on the world stage.”
Since its inception, FNB Art Joburg has been a dynamic confluence of artists, curators, and cultural enthusiasts. This year’s edition promises an electrifying programme, including Open City (28 August – 11 September), a citywide celebration of art and innovation.

“Johannesburg isn’t just a city — it’s the cultural engine of Africa,” declares Mandla Sibeko, managing director of FNB Art Joburg. “Our mission is to amplify the ideas and collaborations that sustain contemporary African art, proving that culture isn’t merely an accessory, it’s a catalyst for growth and transformation.”

FNB Art Joburg champions the belief that art is more than expression — it’s a pathway to economic empowerment. “We’re committed to making art accessible, from appreciation to ownership,” adds Faye. “Through initiatives like the FNB Art Prize, we’re elevating African talent, ensuring their brilliance shines globally.”
As anticipation builds, FNB Art Joburg 2025 promises not only a showcase of African excellence but also a powerful reminder of the continent’s role in shaping global culture.
