The latest creation from Ulysse Nardin, The Ocean Race Diver Chronograph celebrates the historic race’s 50th anniversary. Launched in collaboration with The Ocean Race, the Swiss luxury watchmaker’s latest limited edition pays tribute to both partners’ passion for the sea, their shared sense of adventure and the joint commitment to protecting the oceans. Only 100 pieces are available.
Presented against the backdrop of sport and environmental commitment, The Diver Ocean Race Chronograph sports a 44mm sandblasted black titanium case, finished in DLC. The case is water resistant at depths of up to 300 metres. The concave, unidirectional bezel is crafted from Carbonium, which contains upcycled fibres sourced from the offcuts of aeroplane fuselages.
Beating at 28 800 vph (4 Hz), the Ulysse Nardin Manufacture chronograph calibre UN-150 is displayed through a sapphire crystal case back, replete with a “50” logo in tribute to The Ocean Race’s jubilee. The movement comprises 318 components and 25 jewels.
The dial mimicks the case’s finish. The sandblasted black dial features a 30-minutes counter at 3 o’clock, a 12-hours counter at 6 o’clock and a small-seconds sub-dial at 9 o’clock. Super-LumiNova has been applied to the rhodium-plated hands and indexes.
“The new Diver celebrates this legendary sailing race, its commitment to protecting the ocean environment, and the research and marine conservation projects that Ulysse Nardin is proud to support,” said Patrick Pruniaux, CEO of Ulysse Nardin.
The watch is presented on a black rubber strap, complete with a black ceramic element, engraved with The Ocean Race’s logo, at 6 o’clock. The pin buckle is also fashioned from ceramic.
