A mesmerising timepiece, the new Blast Free Wheel Marquetry signifies Ulysse Nardin’s continued pursuit and the Swiss luxury watchmaker’s visionary spirit to create innovative, technological watches with daring designs. “The mesmerizing new Blast Free Wheel Marquetry defies the boundaries of Haute Horlogerie,” said the Neuchâtel-based company.
Viewed through domed sapphire crystal, the Blast Free Wheel Marquetry’s 45 mm satin-finished and polished white gold case houses an exquisitely crafted silicon marquetry disc, a first for the firm’s Blast collection. Adorning the dial, the disc comprises 103 radiant blue slivers, which, Ulysse Nardin says, turns this piece into a captivating artwork. Echoing the marquet motif, the geometric lines of the watch feature an ultra-glass box, offering a view of the movement, not only from above, but from the side. The Blast Free Wheel Marquetry is presented on a velvet-effect rubber strap.
Enclosed in the case, the watch is endowed with the Swiss luxury watchmaker’s UN-176 calibre, a manual-winding movement beating at 18 000 vph (2.5 Hz). When fully wound, the unit offers a power reserve of a whopping 170 hours. The water resistance is rated at 30 metres.
