Chef Freddie invites you to celebrate Christmas with a menu inspired by his Portuguese upbringing, and his passion for adventurous eating.
Make Christmas adventurously flavourful this year with Séjour and Chef Freddie Dias’s inspired festive menu. The three-course lunch is priced at R950 per person and consists of a range of plates designed for sharing with family and friends from Freddie’s Pioneer menu.
“I’m a naturally curious person and I draw inspiration from all aspects of my life, whether that’s from my upbringing, the places I’ve worked or countries I’ve visited,” Freddie explains. “This Christmas, I’m really looking forward to sharing some of my favourite dishes with other adventurous eaters.”
The first course for Christmas lunch is a Salmon Mi Cuit with beetroot, goat cheese, wild rocket, aged balsamic vinegar and a freshly baked pissaladière with ciabatta, onion, anchovy and black olive. Second course is designed for the table – beef wellington and lamb rack with a delicious selection of sides – duck fat roast potatoes, BBQ brinjal with pomegranate molasses and honey, and Lyonnaise Asparagus. The third course is a sweet ending of Pasteis de Nata, Rabanadas a traditional Portuguese Christmas French toast and black forrest cheesecake.
Alongside an incredible food offering, Séjour is centrally located in Houghton, and only seats 40 people in a well-ventilated unintimidating setting. Its menu features two dining options – a selection of petisco (Portuguese for tapas) under the Pioneer section, and a more traditional modern-fine dining menu, Explorer.
Chef Freddie, who has cooked in top kitchens the world over – including four years at the celebrated Cape Town eatery The Pot Luck Club, brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the kitchen. Driven by his natural curiosity and eagerness to always learn more, the acclaimed chef draws influences from all aspects of his life whether it be his upbringing, travels abroad or his many years in service.
Since opening its doors in October 2020, Séjour restaurant has quickly established itself as the go-to Johannesburg fine dining restaurant without the fluff. It allows guests to both enjoy the space and it’s offering in utmost ease and comfort. It is located within the luxurious Houghton Hotel, situated in the upmarket suburb of Houghton Estate.
The name Séjour, is French for sojourn – defined as a temporary stay or visit. The idea being to create a space that could be an escape from the hustle and bustle of Joburg.
