Meet the Karoo Caipirinha, the summer cocktail with a distinctly South African twist.
Brazil has the beaches, we have the big skies, and Six Dogs has found a rather delicious way to bring the two together. Meet the Karoo Caipirinha, a sun-soaked spin on Brazil’s much-loved cocktail, swapping the traditional cachaça for Six Dogs Karoo Gin.
Think fresh lime, a touch of sweetness, crushed ice and a generous splash of Karoo character. It’s bright, citrusy, seriously refreshing and practically begging to be enjoyed in the sunshine.
CLASSIC COCKTAIL. KAROO ATTITUDE.
The original Caipirinha is a thing of beauty. Cachaça, lime, sugar and ice. Simple, iconic and delicious. So why mess with a good thing?
Well, because curiosity has a way of taking you places.
In this case, Brazil’s beachside cocktail culture has taken a little detour through the Karoo, where the landscape stretches for miles, the sun turns up the heat and the drinks are best enjoyed slowly. Six Dogs has taken the spirit of the Brazilian classic and given it a homegrown twist, creating something familiar yet wonderfully different.
No palm trees required. Just a sunny afternoon, a glass full of ice and nowhere else you need to be.

SO, WHAT EXACTLY IS A KAROO CAIPIRINHA?
It’s a Brazilian-inspired classic with a South African passport. Fresh lime, a little sweetness, crushed ice and Six Dogs Karoo Gin come together in a cocktail that’s made for long lunches, lazy afternoons and those golden-hour moments when one drink sounds like an excellent idea.
It’s the perfect companion for garden gatherings, summer braais, weekends away and friends who pop in for a quick catch-up and somehow stay until sunset.
The secret is in the gin. Six Dogs Karoo brings its distinctive botanical character and subtle citrus notes to the mix, adding a uniquely local flavour to the cocktail’s fresh, zesty foundations.
The result? A refreshing summer sipper with a little Brazilian soul and plenty of Karoo spirit.

BORN IN THE KAROO. MADE TO WANDER.
Six Dogs has always had a thing for doing things a little differently.
The story began in 2013, when three friends, Charles Bryant, his brother Glenn and their friend Luigi Marucchi, set out to create gin on their own terms. Their first still was fashioned from an old copper geyser in a shed shared with, you guessed it, six dogs.
Today, the brand distils its gins in the Western Cape, on the edge of the Karoo, drawing inspiration from the wild landscape that surrounds it.
Perfecting the original Six Dogs Karoo Gin took more than two years and 187 iterations. Its distinctive botanical mix includes Karoo thorn flower, wild lavender, lemon buchu, limes and mandarins, giving it a bright, aromatic character rooted in the South African landscape.
Curious by nature and never ones to take the predictable route, the Six Dogs team continues to experiment with flavour and challenge expectations. Which makes the arrival of a Brazilian-inspired cocktail with a Karoo twist feel entirely on brand.
YOUR SUMMER, WITH A LITTLE MORE SPIRIT
Whether you’re hosting a long, leisurely lunch, firing up the braai or simply claiming a spot in the sun, the Karoo Caipirinha brings a little adventure to your glass.
It’s a reminder that sometimes the best ideas come from mixing things up, following your curiosity and seeing where the journey takes you.
A little Brazil. A lot of Karoo. And one very good reason to make the most of summer.
