1 000 Metres Below: 3 watches for the deep

With the summer fast approaching, we look at a trio of diver’s watches fit to reach water depths of 1000 metres.

ULYSSE NARDIN DIVER DEEP DIVE

The name says it all — “Deep Dive”. And this is precisely what this Ulysse Nardin diver’s watch was made for, accompanying its wearer into the deep blue for up to 1 000 metres.

Limited to only 100 examples, the Diver Deep Dive is a robust, functional, technical and sporty watch. Measuring 46 mm in diameter, the titanium case, fitted to a rubber strap, houses the Swiss luxury brand’s UN-320 Manufacturer calibre. The self-winding unit offers a power reserve of 48 hours.

TAG HEUER AQUARACER PROFESSIONAL 1000 SUPERDIVER

Billed as the ultimate luxury diver’s watch, the latest Aquaracer Professional 1000 Superdiver is even more extreme and robust. It also represents a significant milestone for TAG Heuer. It is the brand’s first timepiece endowed with its TH30-00 calibre, produced by Kenissi Manufacture SA, one of the world’s most highly regarded movement manufacturers, exclusively for TAG Heuer.

The COSC-certified movement, which offers a power reserve of “approximately” 70 hours, is housed in a 45 mm grade 5 titanium case, offering water resistance of 1 000 metres. The bracelet is fashioned from the same hard-wearing material.

ORIS AQUISPRO DATE CALIBRE 400

The Aquispro Date Calibre 400 was designed to serve professional divers on saturation dives. According to ORIS, “It’s a highly technical tool watch chosen by divers who work on complex engineering projects in helium-enriched environments hundreds of metres below the water’s surface.” In addition, this diver’s watch sports the luxury watchmaker’s patented Rotation Safety System (RSS), commissioned by the professional diving community.

Apart from its water-resistance rating of 1 000 metres, the watch’s high-performance 400 calibre, providing a power reserve of a whopping 120 hours, makes it even more attractive to divers. The titanium case measures 49.5 mm in diameter and incorporates a rubber strap.
