Since its debut in 1969, the TAG Heuer Monaco has defied conventions. Its signature square case, left-sided crown, and instantly recognizable blue dial broke the rules of traditional watchmaking, cementing its place as an icon. Over the decades, the Monaco has become synonymous with motorsport and cinematic style, famously worn by Steve McQueen in Le Mans (1971). Each generation has built on this legacy, blending cutting-edge technology with timeless design to capture the spirit of speed and precision.
Nightfall, Full Throttle
The new Monaco Chronograph reimagines this storied timepiece through the lens of night racing. Its 39mm case, crafted in black DLC-coated titanium, is lightweight yet resilient, while the skeletonized dial fades from violet to deep blue, echoing the descent from twilight into night. Super-LumiNova® accents illuminate the chronograph and hands in electric blue, turquoise, and green, creating a layered, dynamic glow that mirrors the neon-lit intensity of city circuits.
Even the caseback continues the visual spectacle, with iridescent metallization shifting from blue to purple as it catches the light, creating a seamless chromatic experience. Powering this kinetic masterpiece is TAG Heuer’s in-house Calibre TH20-00 automatic movement, visible through both dial and sapphire caseback, offering an unfiltered view of the engineering prowess within.
Completing the design is a strap in black rubber and embossed calfskin, with purple stitching that ties into the dial’s electric palette. Each watch is individually numbered, one of just 600 pieces, and presented in exclusive TAG Heuer Monaco packaging accented in matching purple.
