SÓTANO, located in Mouille Point across from the Green Point Lighthouse, offers a revamped menu spotlighting fresh Cape seafood and sushi. With a Mediterranean-inspired approach, this neighbourhood favourite combines the best coastal flavours, featuring seafood dishes, signature cocktails, and fine South African wines.

Co-owners Brendon Crew, Jean Muller, and Marc Langlois draw inspiration from Mediterranean cities like Barcelona and San Sebastián, weaving these influences into dishes that celebrate the vibrant charm of the Mouille Point promenade.

“The promenade’s iconic vibe and nearby attractions like Green Point Park, the V&A Waterfront, and Table Mountain make it a unique destination,” says Brendon. “SÓTANO has been a landmark for 14 years, loved by locals and visitors alike, with a loyal clientele who return for high-quality, simple meals.”

Fresh Seafood & Sushi Highlights
SÓTANO’s menu features all-day dining options, including the standout Seafood Espetada—a skewer of king prawns, octopus, calamari, and line fish drizzled in lemon butter. Another favourite is Spanish Paella with saffron rice, seafood, chicken, and chorizo. West Coast Sole and Classic Fried White Bait are also on the menu, alongside mouth-watering sushi like the Crunchy Calamari Roll and Asian Soya Salmon.

Nautical-Inspired Design
The restaurant’s design nods to its marine theme with a striking ceramic shoal of fish on the main wall, crafted by local ceramicist Angela Gomes. Hanging sea urchin-inspired pendants and colourful Portuguese sardines add artistic flair.
