What began as a one-night experiment has become a much-anticipated fixture on the Swartland’s cultural calendar. This year, NashVegas returns to Riebeek Kasteel for its fourth outing, once again bringing the sweeping story of American music to the foot of the mountain — and this time, with Elvis firmly in the spotlight.
From Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and Chuck Berry to Bruce Springsteen, John Lee Hooker, JJ Cale and The Eagles, the music that shaped American sound comes alive in this rollicking, story-driven show, retold for one night only in the Swartland town of Riebeek Kasteel.
Set against the village backdrop of The Barn, NashVegas traces the roots and revolutions of American music – from the Mississippi Delta and Memphis juke joints to Nashville and beyond. Now in its fourth year, the show leans confidently into its legacy, while offering something new for returning audiences.
At the heart of this year’s performance is a special salute to Elvis Presley, whose music helped bridge blues, gospel and rock ’n roll, and whose influence continues to echo through American songwriting today.
Led by singer-songwriter Craig Banks, The Black Bear Band once again delivers a rich mix of classic covers and original material inspired by the greats. Banks is joined by Wayne Pauli, David Goldberg, Malcolm Aberdeen and Damian Staz – a collective of seasoned Cape Town musicians who together bring decades of experience and a deep affection for the music they perform.
Inspired by Banks’ own travels to Nashville, the evening unfolds in true NashVegas style: an open-air show (weather permitting), long tables under the stars, strings of festive lighting, valley views and a relaxed, communal atmosphere that has become synonymous with the event. Just 80 tickets are available, staying true to the intimacy that has made NashVegas so special from the start.
The evening gets underway from 18:30, with seating provided at long tables and the valley vistas forming the backdrop to what promises to be a memorable night.
