Mount Nelson x Twyg

Mount Nelson x Twyg Present the Fourth Edition of ‘Confections x Collections’ — A Celebration of Contemporary African Luxury

This November, Cape Town’s iconic pink palace, Mount Nelson, A Belmond Hotel, sets the stage for one of Africa’s most evocative fashion events: Confections x Collections (CxC). Now in its fourth edition, the annual showcase returns from 6–8 November 2025, blending slow African fashion, artful gastronomy, and cultural storytelling in an immersive celebration curated by sustainability platform Twyg.

Each year, CxC transforms Mount Nelson’s heritage halls and lush gardens into a living gallery of contemporary African luxury — where threads of heritage, craftsmanship, and innovation are woven together with Belmond’s signature elegance.

This season’s theme, “Our Homecoming,” pays homage to the continent’s iconic textiles — the cloths of culture, identity, and belonging. The result is a poetic reimagining of African fashion’s future: local, ethical, and profoundly meaningful.

An Ode to Heritage and Innovation

Four visionary designers headline CxC 2025, each reinterpreting tradition through a distinctly modern lens:

  • Shelley Mokoena of CONNADE, recently featured at Milan Fashion Week, brings sculptural elegance inspired by architecture, nature, and heritage.
  • Anil Padia of Yoshita 1967, trained in Paris, draws from his Indo-Kenyan roots to craft intricate, ritual-inspired designs that celebrate femininity and cultural fusion.
  • Luke Radloff of UNI FORM bridges indigenous craft with global design codes, using handwoven cottons and knitted mohair to create modular, modernist silhouettes.
  • Laduma Ngxokolo of MaXhosa Africa, a returning favourite and international award-winner, presents his signature vibrant knitwear, steeped in Xhosa symbolism and storytelling.

Following in the footsteps of past participants such as Thebe Magugu and Sindiso Khumalo, this year’s line-up continues CxC’s mission to amplify Africa’s sartorial legacy on the global stage.

“CxC invites audiences into the slow, intentional world of African fashion — where sustainability and storytelling meet,” says Jackie May, Twyg’s founder and editor. “It’s about honouring heritage while reimagining the future.”

Where Flavour Meets Fashion

Each day’s presentation unfolds as a narrative-driven act — a feast for the senses uniting couture, colour, and culinary artistry. Guests are invited to indulge in a reimagined version of Mount Nelson’s legendary Afternoon Tea, curated by Executive Sous Chef Vicky Gurovich, pairing fashion with flavour in a multisensory experience unlike any other.

“Mount Nelson has long been a home for creative dialogue and cultural exchange,” says Patrick Fisher, General Manager. “Through Confections x Collections, we celebrate Africa’s creative leaders and welcome guests into the joyful heart of Cape Town.”
