In 2022, Kloof Street bagged a place on Time Out’s shortlist as one of the ‘coolest streets’ in the world. iGadi House is steps away from the buzz of this neighbourhood, with its magical views of Table Mountain, local fashion boutiques, art galleries, fine eateries and cocktails bars.

Retreat to one of ten beautifully appointed bedrooms at iGadi House with stunning views of Table Mountain, Lion’s Head and Signal Hill. Luxe 400-thread count custom South African bedlinen and generously proportioned beds ensure a good night’s sleep, while the bespoke plant-based scent, especially crafted for iGadi’s bathroom amenities, completes the luxe experience.

The interiors seamlessly merge a modern aesthetic with old-world charm, celebrating the property’s original features and architecture. Original beams, sash windows, high ceilings and ornate latticework on the balcony (also known as ‘broekie lace’) take centre stage, while pared-back furnishings and natural textures in the bedrooms provide a sense of tranquillity.

The signature fern green entrance doors nod to the contemporary interior inside. The library, encased in royal blue paintwork and African-inspired touches, is the perfect spot to enjoy a drink, while a teal velvet banquette in the breakfast room highlights the exquisite painting above it. Threatened Swan, a replica of a painting by Dutch painter Jan van Asselin in 1650 and a regular talking-point among guests over their delicious a la carte breakfast, was originally commissioned in the same period that settler Jan van Riebeeck arrived on Cape shores to start the Company Gardens in the centre of Cape Town.

Bringing je ne sais quoi to iGadi House is owner Cecile Bouquillion. Hailing from France, she first visited Cape Town in 2008. Many years later, following numerous stints abroad for business, Cecile followed her heart back to South Africa and bought this beautifully preserved heritage residence in the upmarket Gardens suburb of Cape Town. She immediately set about restoring into a luxury hotel and iGadi House was opened in December 2022.

Meaning ‘the garden’ in the local Xhosa language, iGadi House is set amid peaceful greenery with many of the rooms enjoying a private garden or balcony. Ranging from Snugly to Biggy, each space is thoughtfully considered with their guests in mind – from solo travellers, to couples, families and friends.
