Mandela Day Walk & Run Returns for 2025: A Global Call to Action

Johannesburg’s streets will once again come alive with unity and purpose as the Mandela Day Walk & Run returns for its fourth edition on Saturday, 19 July 2025 at DP World Wanderers Stadium. Presented by BP South Africa and Balwin Properties, this annual lifestyle event pays tribute to Nelson Mandela’s enduring legacy of service, justice, and community upliftment.
With an expected turnout of 10,000 walkers and runners, participants can choose from 5km, 10km, or 21km routes through Illovo, Melrose North, and Houghton — passing iconic sites including the Nelson Mandela Foundation and Madiba’s former residence. Finishers will receive medals, and Discovery Vitality points are up for grabs.
This year also welcomes the Mandela Day Virtual Walk & Run, allowing global participation. By donating via Fundnation, anyone can walk or run in solidarity from anywhere in the world.
Entry fees range from R100 – R200, and commemorative race t-shirts are available online.
