Culinary Masterclass Weekend at Tintswalo Boulders in Cape Town

Join Tintswalo Boulders and the talented young chef Callan Austin for a culinary masterclass weekend and learn the art of creating delectable dishes with sustainable ingredients foraged from nature.

In 2021 Chef Callan was crowned the first international winner of the S.Pellegrino Young Chef Academy Award for Social Responsibility in Milan. His work experience includes stints at some of the Cape’s foremost restaurants, including Chefs Warehouse Tintswalo Atlantic and Le coin Français. Austin has a keen interest in refined, conceptual cooking with an emphasis on sustainability and he has featured as a guest judge on Masterchef South Africa.

The Tintswalo Boulders weekend starts on the Friday afternoon (22 July 2022) with welcome bubbly and canapés, followed by a masterclass in the art of mixing cocktails.  Dinner will be a harvest table served family style while getting acquainted with fellow villa residents.

On Saturday morning guests will be awakened by the smell of freshly brewed coffee and pastries baking in the oven. A scrumptious breakfast will be served on the terrace with uninterrupted views of Boulders Beach and the famous African Penguin Colony.  One of the highlights of the weekend will be joining chef Callan for a morning of foraging for fresh ingredients in the natural environment that surrounds the villa, followed by a casual, light lunch. The afternoon will be free for relaxation – book a spa treatment or a water activity, explore the treasures of Simon’s Town, or discover the hidden beaches along the boardwalk.  The highlight of the weekend starts at sunset when chef Callan will present a masterclass in using the natural ingredients found on the morning’s foraging excursion. Guests will get to enjoy the fruits of their hard work, learning how to use these sustainable elements to create a unique tasting style dinner menu, served complete with wine pairing.


A lazy brunch will be served on Sunday morning, with a late check out at 15h00 for you to make the most out of your weekend, and to enjoy the luxury and comfort of your beautiful suite before the start of another busy week.

Rates start from R10 500 for 2 people, which includes luxury accommodation for 2 nights (Friday 22 and Saturday 23 July 2022), as well as all meals and selected beverages served during the culinary experiences.(Exclusions – beverages outside of culinary experiences, spa treatments and off-site activities, gratuity and any other items of a personal nature.)
