Capturing a story that began more than a century ago, Oris has turned to the evergreen Aquis to express a special annual tradition — releasing a limited-edition timepiece in celebration of the date the Swiss luxury company was registered (1 June, 1904). Meet this year’s edition, the Aquis Hölstein Edition 2023. Only 250 examples will be made.
“Each of the 250 pieces tells our story in a unique way, and for one time only. It’s a watch for independent thinkers, a gift for Oris fans,” said the firm.
The fourth Hölstein Edition released by the brand, the latest iteration has a few twists, the first of which signifying a first for the watchmaker — the dial’s deep purple colour sheme. The second is the movement, Oris’ “game-changing” Calibre 400. The (2 8000 vph) self-winding unit offers a power reserve of a whopping 120 hours! The third twist in this limited-edition Aquis can be found on the back of its 41.5 mm, multi-piece stainless steel case. The case back is engraved with the limited-edition number and printed with an illustration of the Oris Bear diving in his scuba gear (the Aquis is a diver’s watch, after all). Speaking of its diving capability, the Aquis is water resistant at depths of up to 300 metres.
