Art Scene: Noeleen Kleve

In our latest issue we feature three South African artists who explore their world in their own distinct way — from a minimalist style to nature-inspired representations and soft colour palettes, each individual artist has something to say and to share with the viewer.

Noeleen Kleve

Noeleen Kleve grew up in the Eastern Cape and has always felt a strong connection with the land. She studied Graphic Design at the Ruth Prowse School of Art in Cape Town before working in design studios, as a lecturer at the Austin Ellis Graphic Design School and then starting her own digital design and print business. In 2013, Noeleen completed her Bachelor of Visual Arts degree at UNISA and began creating her own art. Noeleen has exhibited her art at galleries all over South Africa, from Cape Town and Johannesburg to spaces in Prince Albert, Grahamstown and Nieu Bethesda.

Noeleen creates hand-inked prints, which are largely inspired by the natural world. Her prints feature delicate and beautiful representations of fauna and flora, and she is continuously exploring ways to express her physical and spiritual relationship with the land through her art.

Nicole’s work can be viewed at StateoftheART Gallery in Cape Town.
