Billed as not just a watch, the Journey 1884 signifies the first leg of a new journey for Victorinox watches; it’s a statement piece infusing the feeling of freedom and energy with everyday adventures.
So, where does the inspiration for the Journey 1884 come from? Victorinox explains: “Imagine hiking on a spectacular ridge in the Swiss Alps, following the path lost in thought and enjoying the calmness and the breathtaking views whilst deeply inhaling the fresh mountain air. This is the inspiration behind the Victorinox Journey 1884, the new companion that can be relied upon for hiking adventures and much more.”
The Journey 1884’s 43 mm case — which offers water resistance at depths of up to 200 metres — is fashioned from recycled stainless steel. The case incorporates a uni-directional rotating bezel, replete with an aluminium inlay on the quartz movement-equipped model and ceramic on the automatic variants. The watch can be worn with rubber, leather or wood straps or a stainless steel bracelet.
The three-dimensional dial features military time. Super-LumiNova has been applied to the hands, indexes and the dot on the bezel. Let’s get to what drives the watches — the movements. The quartz model features a Ronda 715 unit, while the self-winding variant is equipped with a Selitta SW200-1 movement with a power reserve of 38 hours.
